Ermelinda Marchese

Ermelinda Marchese, 96, of Washington, died at 6:55 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2005, in Presbyterian Senior Care following a lingering illness. She was born June 6, 1909, in Aquara Province, Salerno, Italy, a daughter of Lucido and Nancy Englese Durso. Mrs. Marchese worked for seven years as a seamstress at Washington & Jefferson College. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church since 1935. In 1933, she married Joseph Marchese, who died December 9, 1965. Surviving is a sister, Ellena Durso of Italy. Deceased, in addition to her husband, are four brothers, Lucido, Vincenzo, John and Frank Durso, and three sisters, Carmella and Rosa and Ernestina Durso. Friends will be received Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden St., Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2005, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington, with Reverend Ed Czemerda as celebrant. Burial to follow in Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery.
