Longtime Eastern Star member owned George Stewart Motors
Marybelle M. Stewart, 82, of Washington, died Saturday December 13, 2003, in Presbyterian Medical Center of Washington, following a lengthy illness.
She was born April 6, 1921, in Waynesburg, a daughter of Edwin B. and Emma Pounds Millikin.
Mrs. Stewart was a 1938 graduate of Waynesburg High School and attended Waynesburg College.
During World War II, she managed Waynesburg airport. She later worked for the Internal Revenue Service and had worked for years at Jessop Steel Corp.
Together with her husband, Mrs. Stewart owned and operated George Stewart Motors in Washington.
She was a member of Church of the Covenant in Washington, American Legion Post 175 Ladies Auxiliary and Current Events Club and was a 50-year member of Martha B. Paul Order of Eastern Star 404.
She enjoyed dancing.
On July 3, 1946, she married George H. Stewart, who died November 12, 1996.
Surviving are three sons, James D., Jeffrey C. and John "Jack" Stewart, all of Washington; a brother, Edwin Robert Milliken of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Diane Frazier of Washington; seven grandchildren, Kimberly, Kelley, Craig, Melissa, Steven, Katie, and Brandon Stewart; and a great-grandchild.
Deceased is a sister, Helen Fornwalt.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced. At the request of the family, memorial donations may be made to the Donnell House, Leet Street, Washington, PA 15301. Arrangements are under the direction of William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
