Norma J. Thompson, 69, of Washington, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, in Canonsburg General Hospital.
She was born November 27, 1939, in Tyme (Greene County), a daughter of
Clarence, Sr. and Dorcas Hillberry Doman Toland.
Mrs. Thompson was employed in the Housekeeping Departments at Holiday Inn Meadowlands and Humbert Lane, for a total of ten years.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of Arden Club and the Eagles. She enjoyed bingo and going to Wheeling Island.
Surviving are two sons, Earl William "Bill" Toland, of Washington, and Russell Howard Dougherty, of Bentleyville; two daughters, Patricia Ann (Ron) Strope, of Moundsville, WV, and Norma Lynn (Mark) Milligan, of Bentleyville; a brother, Clarence "Sonny" Toland, Jr., and wife Dorothy, of Cameron, WV; seven grandchildren, Marin-Cody Vettori, Brian Malik, Jr., Courtney, Tori, Joshua, and Christopher Milligan, and Brittney Roberts; a great grandchild, Landyn Roberts; and her caregiver, Joyce Scott, of Washington.
Deceased are her husband, Jerald Thompson; a stepfather, Carl Doman, two sisters, Elsie Huntsman and Shirley Riggle; a son, Charles "Chuckie" Dougherty, and a grandson, Dustin Dougherty.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2009, with Pastor Gloria Garrison officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery, McMurray.
