Robert Wilson Gamble

Robert Wilson Gamble, 87, of Washington, died Friday, March 25, 2005, in the Washington Hospital after having been in declining health the last year. He was born in Mingo, Somerset Township, on February 17, 1918, a son of Robert Hill and Rose Pfau Gamble. Mr. Gamble was a graduate of East Washington High School, had once worked at Hazel Atlas Glass, and worked more than twenty-seven years for Peoples Gas which later became Dominion Gas. He was a member of the Buffalo Grange and had been a very active member of his church, North Buffalo United Presbyterian Church where he had served as an Elder, and on the Session, as well as Session Treasurer. Mr. Gamble enjoyed gardening and hunting as well as repairing lawn mowers and small engines. On July 19, 1941, he married Esther Anna Hallam, who survives. Also surviving are, a son Gerald Gamble of Washington; a daughter, Shirley Taggart of Washington; a sister, Rose Ellen Henry of Beaver Falls; six grandchildren, Mark and John Taggart, Sandy Danna, Lisa Ponder, Brenda King, and Jennifer Gamble; as well as twelve great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death is a sister Martha Bell Gamble. Friends of Robert Wilson Gamble, 87, of Washington, who died Friday, March 25, 2005, will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where a service will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at 1:00 pm, Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Buffalo Grange will hold a service on Monday night. The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
