Catherine Marie Schwering, 76, of Washington, died Thursday, March 6, 2008, in Donnell House, following a three-year illness.
She was born February 12, 1932, in Washington, a daughter of Clarence and Anna C. Higginbotham McCartney.
Mrs. Schwering attended Washington High School. For 18 years, she worked at the Washington Hospital as a nurse’s aid, x-ray orderly and housekeeper.
On June 14, 1969, she married William Joseph Schwering, who died May 22, 1993.
Surviving are three sons, William J., Charles E. and Richard S. (Amy) Schwering; two half-brothers, Clarence McCartney, Jr. and John McCartney; a half-sister, Alberta Coffield, all of Washington; and two grandchildren, William J. Schwering, III and Aidan J. Schwering.
Deceased are a daughter, Lori Ann Schwering; one brother, Walter Anthony; and two half-brothers, Ronald and Donald McCartney.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 10th, with Pastor Ron Ringer officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
