John Thomas Manon

John Thomas (Jack) Manon, 84, of Washington, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, in UPMC hospital in Oakland, following a lengthy illness. He was born March 9, 1921, at home, in South Franklin Township, a son of Merle Glenwood and Rosa Bell Manon. Mr. Manon graduated from Trinity High School in 1940 and served in the U.S. Army 28th Division during World War II. For 33 years, he worked for Brockway Glass as an engineer and maintenance man. Mr. Manon was a member of Bethel United Presbyterian Church, Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion and Laurel Mountain Coachmen Camping Organization. He was a charter member of South Franklin Volunteer Fire Department and one of the founders of Ten Mile Valley Little League Baseball. On June 19, 1941, he married Lillian Lucille Kendall, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, John A. (Debra) Manon and Thomas K. (Kimberly) Manon, both of Washington, and Michael G. (Renee) Manon of Ocean Springs, Miss.; two daughters, Twila A. (John) Fischer of Washington and Teresa R. (Larry) Smith of Meadville; seven grandchildren, Michael W. Manon, Thomas W. Manon, William Pierson, Michelle Williams, Suzette Schiller, Chastity Guadagno and Kelly Manon; several stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. Deceased are a brother, Glenn A. Manon; and two sisters, Martha H. Manon and Kathryn McCormick. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, with the Rev. Thomas Clymer officiating. Military rites accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion. Interment in Prosperity Cemetery.
