Marie Courtwright Stebella, 86, of Washington, died unexpectedly Sunday, March 20, 2005, in Washington Hospital. She was born September 13, 1918, in Washington, a daughter of Floyd I. and Alice Bainer Courtwright. Mrs. Courtwright attended Gabby Heights School and graduated from Washington High School in 1937. She worked for Bell of Pennsylvania for 34 years before retirement and was a member of Bell Telephone Pioneers. Mrs. Courtwright enjoyed sports, especially the Steelers and college basketball, and spending time with her great-niece, Tiffany Lucero. On July 22, 1962, she married John Stebella Jr., who died January 13, 2001. Surviving are four nephews, Michael F., Patrick and K.J. Cavanaugh and Steven Courtwright; and four nieces, Susie Lucero, Christy Knestrick, JoAnn Day and Debbie Manon. Deceased are two brothers, Harold "Moats" Courtwright and Floyd "Cork" Courtwright; and two sisters, Elizabeth "Biddy" Wilson and Ella Cavanaugh.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, with Pastor Robert Prinkey officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
