Inda Mae Cain Pettit

Worked for Washington Co. in personal property department. Inda Mae Cain Pettit, 91, of San Leranzo, Calif., died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, in Evergreen, Carson City, Nev., following a two-week illness. She was born March 23, 1914, in Waynesburg, a daughter of Jonathan M. and Celia Johnson Cain. Mrs. Pettit was a graduate of Trinity High School and Penn Commercial College and was employed in the personal property department for Washington County before retiring. She was formerly a member of Liberty United Methodist Church and the Mt. Herman Baptist Church choir. Mrs. Pettit enjoyed playing golf, oil painting, dancing at the senior citizens center and being involved with Red Hat Society. Her husband, Francis E. Pettit Sr., died in 1985. Surviving are a stepson, John C. Pettit of Washington, district attorney of Washington County; a stepdaughter, Maxine (Trevor) Beecham of Tuscon, Ariz.; three nephews, Richard P., Arley B. and Michael Cain, all of Washington; and a niece, Karen Trivitt of Carson City. Deceased are a daughter, Alma Jean Pettit Miller; a stepdaughter, Cheerful Pettit Fox; a stepson, Francis E. Pettit Jr.; a sister, Violet Purtle; and a brother, John Paul Cain. Burial in Washington Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family Saturday, March 26, with the Rev. Floyd Marasco officiating. Arrangements are being handled by William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd.
