Barbara "Sis" Weir

Barbara Catherine “Sis” Weir, 86, of Scenery Hill, and, most recently, Presbyterian Senior Care, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, in Washington Hospital. She was born September 28, 1921, in Scenery Hill, a daughter of George H. and Mary Donner Wherry. Mrs. Weir graduated from East Washington High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, knitting, and playing bingo. Mrs. Weir was Catholic and was a member of Ladies of the Elks #776, Eastern Star and Somerset Community Club. On February 22, 1945, she married Milton J. Weir, who died October 3, 1993. Surviving are two sons, Willis H. (Karol) Weir and M. Jay (Katherine) Weir, both of Washington; two daughters, Barbara (Robert) Humphreys of Washington, and Caroline (Pete) Palovich of Cokeburg; two sisters, Ann Fidazzo of Cokeburg and Helen Zgorliski of Eighty-Four; seven grandchildren, Sean, Dia, Jennifer, Jason, Bethany, Krista and Brandi; and seven great-grandchildren, Trystan, Brooke, Morgan, Griffin, Kameryn, Cole, and Sammy. Deceased are two sisters, Betty Kyle and Georgia Kotchman. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2008, with Rev. Kenneth Schott officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Senior Care, 835 South Main Street, Washington, PA 15301.
