Albert “Alâ€쳌 L. Yeager, 81, of Washington, died on Monday, March 28, 2005, at the Washington Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Ralph, PA, on January 26, 1924, a son of Delbert R. and Cora Lou Shaw Yeager.
Mr. Yeager worked for 18 years as a radiographer at National Annealing Box. Prior to that, he worked in maintenance at Hazel Atlas Plant #2 for 24 years.
He was a member of the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion for 50 years. He also belonged to V.F.W. #927, A.A.R.P. and the Washington Senior Citizens.
Mr. Yeager attended Lagonda Grammar School and was a graduate of Morris Township High School.
Mr. Yeager served with the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He served aboard the USS Aldebaran (“Dirty Alâ€쳌).
On October 6, 1942, he married Dessie “Jackieâ€쳌 Yeager, with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage. Also surviving are a daughter, Carole Beck, of Washington, PA; a brother, Raymond Edward Yeager of Washington, PA; a half brother, Walter Hatfield of Washington, PA; 2 half sisters, Shirley Fullerton of Glenn Burnie, MD and Iverna Gowern of Canonsburg, PA; 3 grandchildren, Scott Novak, Beth Ann Isenberg and Charles Yeager and 4 great grandchildren.
Deceased are a grandson, James William “Billyâ€쳌 Yeager, Jr.; a son, James William “Jackâ€쳌 Yeager; a brother, James F. Yeager and a sister, Betty McMahon.
Family and friends of Albert “Alâ€쳌 L. Yeager, who died Monday, March 28, 2005, will be received Wednesday, from 7-9 and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, PA., where services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. with the Pastor Gary Gibson and the Rev. Floyd Marasco officiating. Burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery.
