Member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church. Ethel Popper, 80, of Washington, died unexpectedly at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005, in her residence. She was born September 3, 1924, in Washington, a daughter of Charles and Frances Guby Dollish. Mrs. Popper was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards and shopping. She was a member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church. On January 2, 1945, she married Robert Frank Popper, who died July 1, 1987. Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis (William) Mattsfield of Hutchinson, Minn, and Diana (Charles) Crowe of Washington; four grandchildren, Wade Ryan Mattsfield, Sarah Wittenberg, Christopher R. Crowe and Amber L. Crowe; and two great-grandchildren, Miriam and Michah Mattsfield. Deceased are three brothers, Francis, George and Herbert Dollish; and four sisters, Irene Sedlesky, Pearl Dean, Christine Dollish and Flossie Burchak. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, in Fairhill Manor Christian Church, Montgomery Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. David Mansfield officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
