George E. Harris, 87, of Washington, died Saturday, June 14, 2008, in Christopher’s Personal Care Home, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Washington, on January 9, 1921, a son of Esther Amon Harris. He attended Washington Schools and was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States Army.
For many years, he worked at Brockway Glass # 11 as a Mill Right prior to retirement. He was once a member of the Eagles Club and the V.F.W.
Surviving are daughters, Kathy Beaumariage and Mary Lynn Zaksek, both of Washington, and Debbie H. Gills of Brownsville; two brothers, Donald and David Pickens, both of Washington; four grandchildren, Joey and Jason Beaumariage, Lee Ann Wallace, and Christopher Zaksek; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death in addition to his mother are his step-father William Pickens, first wife Mary June Ealy; second wife Mary Harris; brother Richard Pickens.
Friends of George E. Harris, 87, of Washington, who died Saturday, June 14, 2008, will be received on Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, the time of services, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. Burial will be private at a later date in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
