Dorothy L. Auld, 88, of Washington, died Monday, February 25, 2008, in Presbyterian Senior Care, following a brief illness.
She was born Dorothy Ida Litman on February 26, 1919, in East Finley Township, a daughter of Lanfer and Bessie Brownlee Litman.
Mrs. Auld attended grade school at the Joint School and graduated from Morris Township High School in 1938.
For 25 years, she owned and operated a dairy farm in East Finley Township with her first husband, Blair M. Dunham, who is deceased.
Mrs. Auld worked as a physical therapy assistant at the Washington Hospital Extended Care Facility, retiring after 14 ½ years.
She was a past member of Stony Point Methodist Church and Fairmount United Methodist Church, where she loved to sing in the Choir. At the time of her death, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Washington.
Mrs. Auld enjoyed designing and sewing most of her own clothes. She also loved her home and received great pleasure from homemaking, cooking and baking. Pies were her specialty. Mrs. Auld loved flowers and her flower gardens were always well maintained. She also raised and preserved vegetables and fruits.
Surviving are a brother, F. Robert Litman, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
On November 15, 1989, she married Frank L. Auld, who died March 10, 2007.
Deceased, in addition to her husbands, are a son, Roger Blair Dunham; three brothers, Herman, Vance and George Litman; and two sisters, Leana Ryburn and Mary Lou Orndorff.
Friends will be received Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1st, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
