Alma J. Hertig

Member of North Ten Mile Baptist Church Alma J. "Nannie" Hertig, 95, of Bentleyville, formerly of Claysville and Lone Pine, died Sunday, October 19, 2003, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, following a lengthy illness. She was born May 26, 1908, in Claysville, a daughter of Samuel and Renona Narigon Jackson. Mrs. Hertig was a member of North Ten Mile Baptist Church and a former member of the Mission Circle. Her happiest times were spent with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting and made afghans for her family. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. Her husband, Karl E. Hertig, died October 6, 1966. Surviving are two sons, Richard Lyle Hertig of Washington and Michael D. Hertig of Amity; two daughters, Lyndall Worthington of Avella and Cheryl Phillips Besedick of Bentleyville, with whom she made her home; 14 grandchildren, Cindy Cokel, Jeffrey Hertig, Barbara Conkle, Deborah Bowersock, Pamela Buchleitner, Jackie Jo Worthington, Alison McAdams, Kelli Fonner, April Ricci, Joy Angelo, James "Ty" Phillips, Michelle Sperl, Michael Hertig and Laurie Cooke; and 27 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son, Karl M. "Porky" Hertig; a daughter, O'Nile Cokel; a grandson, Karl Frank Cokel; and a great-granddaughter, Sarah Jane Ricci. HERTIG - Friends of Alma J. Hertig of Bentleyville, formerly of Claysville and Lone Pine, who died Sunday, October 19, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 23, with the Rev. Floyd Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in West Alexander Cemetery.
