Washington ham radio operator
Joseph J. Musante, 86, of Washington, died at 7:20 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2003, in Washington Hospital following a month-and-a-half illness.
He was born February 23, 1917, in Connellsville, a son of Bartholomew and Fannie Gerardi Musante.
Mr. Musante was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Washington.
He was a self-employed electrician.
Mr. Musante was employed by McGraw-Edison Power Plant in Washington and later worked at Western Center for seven years prior to his retirement.
He was a ham radio operator with a call sign of "WB3GTE."
Mr. Musante was a member of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 in Washington and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School.
His wife, Roberta Frye Musante, is deceased.
Surviving are two sons, John J. "Buster" Musante of Washington and Mark A. Musante of Tarentum; a daughter, Gayle M. Lane of Washington, with whom he made his home; a sister, Gloria Norwood of Canonsburg; five grandchildren, Everett Joseph Phillips, Pamela L. McElhaney, Randy Lane and Brandy and Amanda Musante; and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Mike, Albert and Ralph Casper and Louis Musante.
MUSANTE - Friends of Joseph J. Musante of Washington, who died Monday, October 6, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 10, in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Washington, with the Rev. Thomas Lewandowski as celebrant. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
