Mero Joseph “ Moon “ Capo, 89, formerly of Washington, died Friday, October 3, 2003 in the St. Thomas Hospital, Akron, Ohio following a two month illness. Mr. Capo was born in Washington on September 14, 1914 a son of Antonio and Lucia Cornetto Capo. He was a 1936 graduate of Washington High School, had served with the 28th Division in the European Theater, WW II. He is a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 of the American Legion and the Leonardo Da Vinci # 270 Order Sons of Italy in America.
On August 27, 1943 he married Mary Theresa Gshinsky who survives. Also surviving are a son Dennis A. Capo, North Canton, Ohio: a daughter Sharon Adams of Washington; a sister Mary Capo Platt of Washington; seven grandchildren, Jeannine Romano, Mero J. Capo, III, Christina Capo Yant, Melissa Capo, Dennis A. Capo, Jr, Steven Capo, and Jennifer Adams; and ten great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are a son Mero J. Capo, Jr.; two brothers, Joseph and Dominick Capo; two sisters, Carmella Franell and Theresa Capo.
Friends of Mero Joseph “ Moon “ Capo, formerly of Washington, who died Friday, October 3, 2003 will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 6, 2003 in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Full Military honors graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175, American Legion.
