Leo Vance Ruetschi, 64, of Prosperity, died Saturday, September 20, 2003 in the Washington Hospital following an eighteen year illness. He was born in Claysville on May 1, 1939, a son of Edward and Fannie Pratton Ruetschi. Mr. Ruetschi was a graduate of Claysville High School and later served in the United States Army. He had worked in the Glass Industry having worked for Metro, Kraft, and last for Ball Incon for a total of 28 years. Mr. Ruetschi was born again and was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church in Amity. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his cabin in the mountains. He loved his family and grandchildren. On September 11, 1960 he married Betty Ward who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Sonya Hatfield and Brenda Bardella both of Washington; two brothers, Ben Ruetschi of Washington and David Ruetschi of Taylorstown; three sisters, Freda Jones of Springfield, Illinois ,
Thelma Kelley of Claysville, Violet May of Washington, and Gail Shriver of Palm Beach, Florida; four grandchildren, Jeremi and Justin Bordella, and Kayla and Preston Hatfield.
Preceding him in death are a brother Richard Ruetschi and a sister Yula Daugherty.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Prosperity Cemetery for Leo Vance Ruetschi, Pastor Dave Falvo officiating. A memorial service will immediately follow at Mt. Herman Baptist Church, Amity. Services are under the direction of William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
