Raymond Lee Wright Sr.,77, of Washington, died Thursday, September 18, 2003 in the Washington Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in Strabane on July 7, 1926 a son of George L. and Bertha M. Barringer Wright. Mr. Wright was a member of Friendship Community Church. He enjoyed animals, gardening , and repairing things. He worked for more than 38 years at Brockway Glass # 7. He was a World War II Navy Veteran having served aboard the USS Florence Nightingale. He received the WW II Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal with 1-star, and the European-African-Middle East Medal with 1-star. He is a member of American Legion Post # 175.
On July 29, 1946 he married Mary Katherine Spease who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Raymond Lee Wright, Jr., of Eighty-Four, David Neal Wright of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and John Jay Wright of St. Roberts, Missouri; two daughters, Bonnie Lou Wright Dolan and Wanda Kay Boardley, both of Washington; three brothers, Ralph Wright of Los Angeles, California, Oscar Wright of Butte, Montana, and George Wright of Niles, Ohio; a sister Georgetta Faust of Houston; twelve grandchildren, Michael Wright, Tonia Casterline, Christopher Dolan, Tina Heaton, Nicole Wright, Justin Wright, Christina Wright, John Wright, Erica Wright, Josh Wright, Robert Boardley, and Tabatha Boardley; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are a son, Roy E. Wright; four brothers, Samuel, Paul, Clarence, and Walter Wright; and a great-grandson, Nicholas Dolan.
Friends of Raymond Lee Wright, Sr., of Washington who died in Thursday, September 18, will be received from 7 to 9 PM Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Sunday in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Monday, September 22, 2003 with Pastor Floyd Marasco officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military Rights graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175, American Legion.
