Jessop Steel crane operator enjoyed hunting
Allen Thorne Cole Jr., 85, of Washington, died at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2003, in Donnell House, Washington, following a monthlong illness.
He was born November 11, 1917, in Washington, a son of Allen Thorne Sr. and Nannie Corbin Cole.
Mr. Cole had been a crane operator at Jessop Steel, where he was employed for 34 years, retiring in February 1976.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and carpentry.
On March 29, 1941, he married Betty Casterline, who survives.
Also surviving are six sons, Allen T. "Butch" Cole III of Washington, Terry Cole of Carteret, N.J., James "Ham" Cole of Washington, David Cole of Washington, Dale "Buck" Cole of Taylorstown and Patrick Cole of Taylorstown; a daughter, Kathleen Hoffaker of Leavittsburg, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cole was the last of his immediate family.
Deceased are several brothers and sisters.
COLE - Friends of Allen Thorne Cole Jr. of Washington, who died Tuesday, August 26, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 29, followed by interment in Washington Cemetery.
