Bernard (Bennie) Pallette, 78, of Washington, died Monday, September 1, 2003, in Washington Hospital.
He was born February 16, 1925, in Houston, a son of John and Lucy Spin Pallette.
Mr. Pallette was a 1945 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy Amphibious Corps from 1943 until 1946 aboard LST No. 230, taking part in the first-wave landing at Normandy and serving in southern France.
Mr. Pallette worked for Lightning Express as a truck driver in the tri-state area for 31 years.
He was a 57-year member of American Legion Post 902 in Houston and was a former post commander.
Mr. Pallette was a member of Houston Independent Club and Teamsters Union 585.
He enjoyed attending professional football and baseball games and had been an avid golfer.
Mr. Pallette appreciated Christian fellowship and prayers.
His last few years were spent physically impaired.
Surviving are a brother, Anthony Pallette of Canonsburg; and two sisters, Marian Marasco Russo of Lawrence and Joan Marasco of Washington.
Deceased are two brothers, Frank (Gene) and Joe "Napper" Pallette; and three sisters, Theresa Pallette, Rose Cancilla and Thelma (Flora) Cancilla.
PALLETTE - Friends of Bernard (Bennie) Pallette of Washington, who died Monday, September 1, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 5, with the Rev. Floyd Marasco officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg. The family requests memorial donations to Friendship Community Church Building Fund, P.O. Box J, Washington, PA 15301.
