Westland resident served in U.S. Navy during WWII
Frank Charles Turk Sr., 78, of Westland, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2003, in Canonsburg General Hospital. He had been ill since January.
He was born May 19, 1925, in Canonsburg, a son of George F. and Ida Kovace Turk.
Mr. Turk was a member of North Buffalo Presbyterian Church.
He was employed by Fort Pitt Bridge Works as a structural fitter.
Mr. Turk enjoyed fly fishing.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, receiving the American Area Ribbon and Victory Medal.
On October 12, 1957, he married Clara Bell Russell, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Frank Charles Turk Jr. of Westland; and a daughter, Cheryl Bertosa of Parma, Ohio.
Deceased are a son, Joseph George Turk; five brothers, Joseph, Michael, Andy, Steve and George Turk; and three sisters, Ida Kapkowski, Elizabeth Barbosky and Agnes Gubasko.
TURK - Friends of Frank Charles Turk Sr. of Westland, who died Tuesday, August 26, 2003, will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 29, with the Rev. John Mark Scott officiating. Interment will follow in North Buffalo Church Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded at graveside by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.
