Dominic Romano, 78, of Washington, died at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2005, in Kindred Hospital, Oakdale. He had been ill since September. He was born December 19, 1926, in Washington, a son of Felix and Grace Allowatt Romano. Mr. Romano attended Washington area schools and was a member of St. Hilary Church. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Forces in Germany and France. He was employed by McGraw- Edison as a machinist first class for 32 years. He was a member of Alpine Lodge and Pulaski Club and enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodcraft and telling stories. On September 4, 1948, he married Eilene Were, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Mark Romano and wife, Jeannine, of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters, Judith Stewart and husband, Gary, of Canonsburg and Dawn Marie Luketich and husband, Ronald, of Scenery Hill; two brothers, Anthony Romano and Sam Romano, both of Washington; 2 sisters, Frances Zacour and Joanne Kolycheck both of Washington; eight grandchildren, Mark Jason Madosky, Jennifer Brogdon, Jenese Madosky, Micah Romano, Mark Romano, Amanda Romano, Matthew Luketich and Francesca Zottolo; five great-grandchildren, Halie Madosky, Benjamin Madosky, Janelle Ibarrondo, Mason Ibarrondo and Mia Brogdon. Deceased are a brother, Frank Romano; and a sister, Theresa Urso.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, January 7, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas D. O'Neil as celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.
