Bertie Wilson Sprowls, 69, of Washington died Monday, July 21, 2003 in the Donnell House following an 18 month illness. She was born on November 24, 1933 in Washington, a daughter of Stanley Corbet and Helen Leoda Johnston Wilson. She was a 1951 graduate of Washington High School and was a . Mrs. Sprowls once worked for Dr. Donnellie, later worked for Fairmont Supply, and retired after working for Washington County Adult Probation and Domestic Relations. She was a member of Friendship Community Church in Washington, was an Artist, having sold paintings in many other states, had written novels, short stories and poetry, as well as her auto-biography. She taught Ice Skating and Dance and had been involved in various Ice Shows in the area. She participated in Sweet Adelines and was a member of a Quartet, and played the Piano. Mrs. Sprowls owned a horse that raced at the Meadows and created the cartoon “ Race Horse Harry “.
On August 15, 1964 she married Richard W. Sprowls who survives. Also surviving are a son, Erik Jon Sprowls of California, PA; two sisters, Annabelle Reilly and Ella Maude Wilson, both of Washington.
Friends of Bertie Wilson Sprowls of Washington who died on Monday, July 21, 2003, will be received on Wednesday from 7 to 9 and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA where services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Floyd Marasco and Rev. Roy Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
