Gaylord Francis "Giz" Plants, 64, of Washington, died at 2 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2003, in Washington Hospital. He had been ill the past 17 years.
He was born September 29, 1938, in East Finley Township, a son of George and Mildred Hancher Plants.
Mr. Plants was a member of Church of God of Claysville.
He attended Claysville High School and was formerly employed by Federal Paper Board as an air gun operator.
Mr. Plants enjoyed gospel music and spending time with his grandchildren.
On March 3, 1962, he married Dora Jane Mounts, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Terry Plants of Washington; three daughters, Martha Jane Plants, Brenda Unrue and Frances Plants, all of Washington; seven brothers, Gerald, of Cranston, R.I., Grayson and George, both of Claysville, Julian and Roger, both of Washington, Rudy of Avella and David Plants of Burgettstown; two sisters, Mildred Moore of Claysville and Patricia Plants of Washington; and six grandchildren, Jennifer. Justin, Michael, Rhiannon, Jessica and Brianna.
Deceased are two brothers, Marvin and Larry Plants.
PLANTS - Friends of Gaylord Francis "Giz" Plants of Washington, who died Monday, August 25, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 28, with the Rev. George Plants officiating. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, West Finley R.D.2.
