Mae M. Sims, 85, of Dublin, Georgia, died Thursday, January 24, 2008.
She was born July 22, 1922, in Beirut, Lebanon, a daughter of the late Domitt and Anne Yemin Monsour.
She was raised and lived in Washington for 68 years, but has lived in Dublin, Georgia, with her daughter and son-in-law for the past 12 years.
She attended Washington schools and worked for 38 years for Continental Can/Brockway Glass Co. While in Washington, she was a member of the local GBBA union and active in the local Democratic Party.
Mrs. Sims was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Washington and the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception in Dublin.
She enjoyed many summers on the New Jersey shore, and, more recently, she enjoyed beautiful Hilton Head Island with her family.
Her husband of 48 years, Oscar F.L. Sims, died in 1995.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ann (Sims) and William E. Preston of Dublin; two step-daughters, Catherine (Frank) Cooper of Lehigh Acres, Florida, and Ginny (Walt) Skowvron of Washington; a granddaughter-in-law, Christy Canen Preston of Adrian, Georgia; three sisters, Theresa Beabout of Pittsburgh, Louise Moore of Columbus, Ohio, and Marie (Robert) Haines of Greensburg; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a beloved grandson, Adam Joseph Preston; a brother, Joseph P. Monsour; and a sister, Genevieve McMurray.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd. 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2008, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery.
