Russell E. Walter, 73, of Claysville, died at 7:55 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2003, in Donnell House, Washington. He had been ill since August.
He was born February 11, 1930, in East Freedom (Altoona), a son of Marty and Mary Eichelberger Walter.
Mr. Walter was employed by Washington Rubber and J&F Tire for 35 years.
In the 1950s and 1960s, he was a member of Ringgold Cavalry.
His wife, Janet R. Manning, died in 1998.
Surviving are a stepson, Blair Manning of Allentown; a stepdaughter, Cathy Davis of Claysville; four brothers, Bob Walter of Erie, and Carl, Lloyd and Ronald "Sonny" Walter, all of Altoona; five sisters, Vivian Frye, Shirley Walter, Dorothy Berdine, Dolores Renney and Ruby Keller, all of Altoona; four grandchildren, Janet Knox, Joseph Davis, Tom Davis and Tammie Davis; and 11 great-grandchildren.
WALTER - Friends of Russell E. Walter of Claysville, who died Friday, November 7, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Home Inc., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 10, with the Rev. Mary Sprowls officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
