Merla Wright Mcconnell

Merla Wright McConnell, 70, of Canton Township, died Monday, September 8, 2003 in her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Washington on May 25, 1933 a daughter of Silas “ Ike “ and Mildred Booher Wright. Mrs. McConnell was a graduate of Trinity High School and Penn Commercial College. She had worked at the Department of Public Welfare for 16 ½ years as a secretary and also as a Teacher’s Aid in the Trinity School District. She was a member of the Third United Presbyterian Church for more than 35 years, had taught Sunday School, and served as a Deaconess. She also was a member of the Taylorstown American Legion Ladies Auxillary. On July 9, 1951 she married Ralph E. McConnell who survives. Also surviving are a son, Daniel McConnell of Dubois; two daughters, Linda Staley of Cumming, Georgia, and Mildred “ Millie “ McConnell of Dawsonville, Georgia; a sister Marlyn Johnson of Claysville; seven grandchildren, Christopher Staley, Trisha Kaseler, Erin Jones, Jesse Czapski, Jeremy Czapski, Melissa McConnell and John McConnell; and three great-grandchildren. Friends of Merla Wright McConnell, 70, of Canton Township, who died Monday, September 8, 2003 will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Wednesday in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2003 at 11:00 AM, Rev. Lesley Shoup officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
