John A. Mccoy

Longtime carpenter served in WWII John A. McCoy, 84, of Claysville, formerly of Taylorstown, died Friday, August 29, 2003, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington, following a brief illness. A son of Boyd Emory and Pearl Marie McKeen McCoy, he was born March 8, 1919, in Pancake on McCoy Lane, where he lived for six years. After attending Taylorstown schools, Mr. McCoy served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1945 in the Pacific and European theaters. He was a longtime carpenter who worked for various companies in the Pittsburgh and Washington areas, last at McAnallen Brothers, before retiring in 1981. He was a member of Carpenter Local 541 for more than 50 years. Mr. McCoy had attended East Buffalo Presbyterian Church as well as Calvary Baptist Church. He was a member of American Legion in Taylorstown and enjoyed hunting, mechanics, woodworking and gun collecting. On September 5, 1940, he married Helen Marie Kendall, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, James Kenneth and John Mark McCoy, both of Washington; a daughter, Dale McCoy Kelley of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, James E. McCoy of Washington; five grandchildren, Todd and Christopher Kelley, Carrie Ann McCoy Carpenter and Ashley Nicolle and Amanda Marie McCoy; and three great-grandchildren. Deceased are a daughter, Ellen Marie McCoy, who died as a child; a grandson, James K. McCoy II; a brother, Delbert Glenn McCoy; and a sister, Lucy Pearl McCoy. KRUCZEK - Friends of Edward J. Kruczek of Washington, who died Thursday, August 28, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. There will be no visitation Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, Washington. Full military honors will be accorded at graveside by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.
