Local meat cutter was U.S. Navy veteran
Edward J. Kruczek, 88, of Washington, died Thursday, August 28, 2003, in Tandem Health Care, North Strabane Township, following a lengthy illness.
He was born September 23, 1914, in McKeesport, a son of Alexander and Stella Czemerowska Kruczek.
Mr. Kruczek served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Washington.
Mr. Kruczek worked as a meat cutter at Washington Meat Market, Rungo's and Huskey's.
He enjoyed golf and cooking.
In 1935, he married Helen Chordas, who died in 1966.
Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth H. (Betty) Paustenbach of Washington; three sisters, Josephine Balent, Helen DeStefano, both of Washington, and Laura Sapp of Bradenton, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Kerry Paustenbach.
Deceased are a brother who died in infancy; and two sisters, Joanna Mikuta and Victoria who died as a child.
KRUCZEK - Friends of Edward J. Kruczek of Washington, who died Thursday, August 28, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. There will be no visitation Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, Washington. Full military honors will be accorded at graveside by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.
