Donald Carl Hampe

Donald Carl Hampe, 74, of Washington, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2004, in Washington Hospital, following a lengthy illness. He was born August 9, 1930, in Washington, a son of Fred Sr. and Pearl Fisher Hampe. Mr. Hampe was retired from Bolson and had previously been employed as a foreman at National Annealing Box, where he had been employed for 30 years. He was a member of Indian Springs Road and Gun Club, Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 and National Rifle Association. He was a former member of Allison Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Hampe was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea as a private first class and earned the Korean Service Medal with four bronze stars. On November 7, 1953, he married Ruth Elizabeth Huber, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Cynthia H. Riggle of Washington; two brothers, David Glenn Hampe and Fred Hampe Jr., both of Washington; a sister, Beatrice Hergert of Kissimmee, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Ashley R. and Kelley D. Riggle. Deceased are a brother, Thomas Hampe; and two sisters, Marie Rhoades and Alma Mull. Friends will be received from 2 from 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 13, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at graveside by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.
