David G. Hampe

David G. Hampe, 65, of Washington, died at 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2004, in Donnell House, Washington, after having been ill for a year and a half. He was born April 15, 1939, in Washington, a son of Fred Sr. and Pearl Fisher Hampe. He was a Washington High School graduate. Since 1984, Mr. Hampe was employed as a maintenance mechanic at Columbia Gas Transmission in Washington and Waynesburg. He previously was employed as a service manager at Gardner Lincoln-Mercury and Love Ford. He was a member of Glenn Street Free Methodist Church and enjoyed auto racing, camping, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Hampe served four years in the U.S. Navy, including time in the Atlantic Theater and in the Mediterranean. On March 2, 1964, he married Laura Laverne Fraley, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Tammie Hall of Avella and Chanin Munger of McDonald; a brother, Fred Hampe Jr. of Washington; a sister, Beatrice Hergert of Kissimmee, Fla.; four grandchildren, Andrew Hall, Dustin Hall, Casey Munger and Caitlyn Munger; and two stepgrandchildren, Laura and Dustin Munger. Deceased are two brothers, Thomas Hampe and Donald G. Hampe; and two sisters, Marie Rhoades and Alma Mull. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 18, with the Rev. Robert Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
