Wanda R. Kern, 89, of Washington died Wednesday, June 25, 2003 in the Washington Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born on March 16, 1914 in Weston, West Virginia a daughter of Olen and Mary Pearl VanPelt Robertson. Mrs. Kern was a home maker and had once worked at J.C. Penney’s during World War II. She is a member of the Friendship Community Church in Washington.
On April 26, 1935 she married Albert Raymond Kern who died on July 22, 1977.
Surviving are a daughter, Zoe Loraine Knox of Washington; a son, Gary Raymond Kern of Mount Joy, PA; six grandchildren, William, Douglas, David, Stephen, and Jeffrey Knox, Christopher Kern, as well as 11 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Kern is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sherri Knox, a brother Robert Robertson, and a sister Kathleen Bryan.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Monday, June 30, 2003 at 11:00 AM, William Foflygen officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
