Linda Kay Barney, 52, of Washington, died at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003, in her home.
She was born May 18, 1951, in Washington, a daughter of the late Steve and Stella Earlywine Barney.
Mrs. Barney was a member of First United Methodist Church of Houston and taught junior church and Sunday school.
She was a member of First United Methodist Women's Association.
Mrs. Barney drove for Meals on Wheels in Houston.
She was a certified activity consultant and a nursing assistant and had been employed at Cooper Queen Community Hospital in Arizona.
Mrs. Barney was a graduate of Washington High School and received a bachelor of science degree from University of LaVerne in California.
She served in the U.S. Army and received a National Defense Service Medal.
Surviving are two sons, Michael Kirkland of Johnson City, Tenn., and H.M.-II Mark Kirkland of Yuma, Ariz.; two sisters, Bonnie Hartzogg and Helen Booth, both of Washington; two grandchildren, Christina and Skyler Kirkland; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces.
Deceased is a brother, Steve Barney.
BARNEY - Friends of Linda Kay Barney of Washington, who died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, will be received 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. June 22, in First United Methodist Church of Houston, with the Rev. Harold Knappenburger officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
