Margaret Edith McCartney, 65, of Washington, died at 10:55 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2004, in the Washington Hospital emergency room. She had been ill for eight years. She was born October 11, 1939, in Washington, a daughter of Theresa Miller Harrington Rice of Springfield, Tenn., and the late Clyde Harrington. Mrs. McCartney was employed at Brockway Glass Plant 7. On March 13, 1956, she married Carl Richard McCartney Sr., who died June 24, 1985. Surviving are two sons, Carl Richard McCartney Jr. and Richard Lee McCartney, both of Washington; a daughter, Sherry Lynn McCartney Hays of Washington; three brothers, Harry Harrington of Washington, Nicholas Harrington of Springfield and Donald Harrington of Arizona; six grandchildren, Joshua W. and Jaron Hays, Nicole Finney, Jennifer Gontas, Amber Hays and Jeremy Gontas; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 11, with Pastor William Foflygen officiating, followed by interment in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
