Mary P. Byers

Member of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers Mary P. Byers, 75, of Washington, died at 8:38 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2002, in her home. She was born March 28, 1927, in Leetonia, Ohio, a daughter of Joseph and Bessie Sanders Newman. Mrs. Byers was a homemaker. Prior to her marriage, she had been employed by Tygart Valley Glass Co. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Disabled American Veterans, Hawkins Home Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 927, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, United Seniors Association Inc., Washington Humane Society and AARP. On March 28, 1948, she married Harold Ocal Byers, who survives. Also surviving are a son, William M. Byers of Washington, and two grandsons, Benjamin and Brian Byers. Deceased are a son, Harold Ocal (Maynard) Byers Jr., and three brothers, James, Edward and John Newman. BYERS - Friends of Mary P. Byers of Washington, who died Tuesday, August 6, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 9, with the Rev. Michael A. Sitko officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
