Navy veteran of World War II
Homer W. (Bill) Cramer Jr., 78, of Washington, died at 4:40 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2003, in his home, following a 3 1/2-year illness.
He was born August 7, 1924, in New Castle, a son of Homer William Cramer Sr. and Gladys Porter Cramer Shriver.
Mr. Cramer was employed by Washington street department.
He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 of Washington.
During World War II, Mr. Cramer served in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic-Pacific area, where he received the Victory Medal and American Area Ribbon.
On August 26, 1958, he married Rose Marie O'Leary, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Donald Cramer of Beaver Crossing, Neb., Jack Cramer of Bentleyville, Darrell Cramer of Washington and Gary Cramer of Roanoake, Va.; three daughters, Barbara Hatfield of Ocala, Fla., Annette Buford of Bernice, La., and Lois Africa of Washington; a brother, Ralph Cramer of Falls Church, Va.; two sisters, Mary Lou Heckthorne of Flora, Ind., and Norma Jean Alley of Washington; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sisters, Ruth Stiles and Estella Ferm.
CRAMER - Friends of Homer W. (Bill) Cramer Jr. of Washington, who died Saturday, June 7, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, with the Rev. George VanRiper officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens. Full military rites will be accorded at graveside by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 of Washington.
