John Edwin Minnis, Jr.

John Edwin Minnis, Jr., 61, of Washington, died Thursday, December 2, 2004, in his home following a three-month illness. He was born in Washington on October 22, 1943, a son of the late John and Florence Buela Cottrial Minnis, Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Minnis had worked in the maintenance department at Washington & Jefferson College for the last thirteen years. He was a lifelong member of Alcoholics Anonymous and had sponsored many people, he founded the Alcoholics Anonymous programs at both the Washington County Jail and the Waynesburg Prison . On October 28, 1967, he married Cathy Hayes Simon who survives. Also surviving are a son, Brian John Minnis of Washington, and two grandchildren, Emma Hayes Minnis and Kimberleigh Morgan Minnis. No public visitation will be held and private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
