George " Bunny " Crompton

George B. “ Bunny “ Crompton, 74, of Washington died Wednesday, April 2, 2003 in the Donnell Hospice House following a seven month illness. He was born in Washington on October 22, 1928 the son of Frank Owen and Ruby Georgeina Probert Crompton. Mr. Crompton left Trinity High School to serve in World War II and later returned to graduate. He had worked as a manager in the store room at Washington Steel Corp. for 30 years until his retirement. Mr. Crompton was a member of the Church of the Covenant. He also was a member of American Legion Post # 639, Claysville, Sunset Lodge # 623, and the Valley of Coudersport. He enjoyed golfing and had once shot a whole in one at Paul’s Acres in Washington. On August 26, 1949 he married Gladys Clark who survives. Also surviving are a son, Jeffrey Allan Crompton of Washington and a daughter, Lory Ann Crompton-Jenkins of Montara, California; Three brothers, Paul Owen Crompton of Clearwater, Florida, Charles Collier Crompton of Ocala, Florida, and Richard Thane Crompton of Washington; Three sisters, Carol Joyce Adams of Allison Park, Ruth Ann Quail and Kathryn E. Redick both of Washington; and two Grandchildren, Jeffrey Owen Crompton and Mark Anthony Crompton. Mr. Crompton is preceded in death by a brother Bruce A. Compton , and a sister Betty Constance Crompton who died in infancy. Friend of George B. “ Bunny “ Crompton, who died April 2, 2003 will be received on Saturday 7 to 9 PM and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue where services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, Rev. Thomas Hamilton officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
