Alben "Cat" Ruschel

Retired PENNDOT driver. Alben "Cat" Ruschel, 86, of Washington, died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2004, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington. He was born October 20, 1918, in Federal, a son of William and Rose Miller Ruschel. Mr. Ruschel attended Washington High School and retired after 25 years of service as a driver for the state Department of Transportation. He was a member of BPOE 776. On October 9, 1976, he married Janet L. Carter Ruschel, who died October 13, 1995. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Weide of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a brother, Robert "Zip" Ruschel of Washington; and two grandchildren, David and Tracey Belotti. Deceased are a brother, William Ruschel; and two sisters, Bertha Laws and Evelyn Braden. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 21, with the Rev. Keith Lohr officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
