Richard C. Harris, 75 of McMurray, died Sunday, March 2, 2003 in his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 19, 1927 in Olean, New York, the son of Henry B. and Florence Taylor Harris. He was a Graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, was a Korean War veteran having served with the U.S. Navy, and had once served as Trustee of Robert Wesleyan College, Rochester , New York.
Mr. Harris was a very active member of the Glenn Street Free Methodist Church in Washington as well as the Gideons. He was retired having worked 42 years for Bell Telephone in various capacities.
On April 29, 1949 he married Beulah " Boo " Leonard who survives. Also surviving are three sons; Richard Harris of Huntingdon, Pa, Scott Harris of Pittsburgh, and Robert Harris of Marietta, Georgia, two daughters; Linda Harris and Velda Hartman, both of McMurray, four grandchildren; Nicholas, Jodi, Holly, and Tyler Harris, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Harris is preceded in death by a brother Henry Harris.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, and from 10-11 AM the time of service on Thursday, in the Glenn Street Free Methodist Church, 690 Glenn Street, Washington, PA. Rev. Robert Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
