John Solomon, 78 of East Washington died Monday, February 24, 2003 following a two year illness.
He was born on November 23, 1924 in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Charles and Julia Deeb Solomon. Mr. Solomon was a prominent Lawyer in Washington County fpr the past 49 years. He was a member of the Washington County Bar association, Pennsylvania Bar Association, and a former member of the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association.
After graduating from Washington High School in 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps serving the duration of World War II as a radio operator machine gunner on a bomber in the European, African, and Eastern Fronts receiving the Overseas Service Bar, the Air Medal with Bronze Oakleaf Cluster and Silver Battle Star. Mr. Solomon was honorably discharged in May, 1924.
After discharge he started his law career, graduating from Washington & Jefferson College in 1949 and later West Virginia School of Law in 1953.
Mr. Solomon served as Assistant District Attorney for Michael Hanna, Solicitor for Canton Township, Trinity Area School District, and Olga Woodward, Recorder of Deeds. Presently, he was Solicitor for Washington County Controller, Michael Namie and had also served in the same capacity for Paul Belcastro. He was a State Committee Man and East Washington Committee Man for the Washington County Democratic Party.
Mr. Solomon was an avid fisherman. He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 of the American Legion, Alpine Club,Elks, Eagles and Moose.
On June 25, 1955 he married Betty Nicastro who survives. Also surviving are a sister, Wodea Williamson as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lloyd and brothers, Samuel, Abraham and Michael Solomon.

Friends will be received on Wednesday and thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA 15301 where a Blessing Service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2003 at 10:00 AM, Father William Feeney officiating and interment in Washington Cemetery.
