Washington resident enjoyed big band music
Velma Irene Mitchell, 85, of Washington, died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2003, in Kade Nursing Home, Washington, following a lengthy illness.
She was born November 24, 1917, in Washington, a daughter of Vivian and Eva M. Clutter McVehil.
Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church in Washington.
She had been employed by Washington Laundry as a presser.
Mrs. Mitchell enjoyed big band music and bowling.
On July 26, 1947, she married Thomas Edward Mitchell, who died September 2, 1987.
Surviving are two sons, Arthur Lewis Mitchell of Elizabeth and Timothy Edward Mitchell of Canonsburg; a daughter, Edith Loretta Mitchell Dreiman of Livermore, Calif.; a twin sister, Virginia Baldwin of Woodlands, Texas; and three grandchildren, Ryan A. and Matthew S. Mitchell and Thomas C. Dreiman.
Deceased are three brothers, Ronald and Frank Clemons and James Clutter.
MITCHELL - Friends of Velma Irene Mitchell of Washington, who died Tuesday, February 11, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 14, with the Rev. Susan VandeKappelle officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
