Shirley Anne Johnson, 73, of Washington, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, January 29, 2008, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born April 5, 1934, in Washington, a daughter of Joseph James and Genevieve Arthur Sonson.
Mrs. Johnson graduated from Washington High School in 1951, and worked at W.T. Grants, Woolworth's, JC Penney's, and the Marianne Shop. She also trimmed windows and set up displays for Discay Company.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Silver Sneakers group at Alexander's Gym and a past member of Melody Lane Skate and Figure Club.
She was a life-long member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church.
On November 28, 1959, she married Donald Johnson, who survives.
Also surviving are a sister, Sonya J. Sonson of Washington; a sister-in-law, Naomi (William) Donahue; two nephews, John and Michael; three nieces, Kathy, Lindi, and Karen; and numerous cousins.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 4th, in Immaculate Conception Church, with Father Nicholas Spirko as celebrant. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
