Doris D. Nicolella, 84, of Washington, died unexpectedly Sunday, December 16, 2007, in Washington Hospital.
She was born September 1, 1923, in Langeloth, a daughter of Stanley Suica.
Mrs. Nicolella was a 1941 graduate of Union High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh under a war training program.
During World War II, she worked for Climax Corp. and later worked in sales at Lang's for 20 years.
Mrs. Nicolella was a fan of the Pirates.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed baking; she was baking nut rolls the day she died.
She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Nicolella was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
She married her beloved husband, Joseph Nicolella, November 25, 1945. Together, they celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Joseph (Marla) Nicolella of Washington; a daughter, Roselyn (Lowell) Thomas of Washington; five grandchildren, Jennifer Trapanotto, Matthew Thomas, Katie Nicolella, Jamie Nicolella and Jacob Nicolella; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Sophia Trapanotto.
Deceased are four brothers, Michael, Docco, Nicholas and Paul, and two sisters, Dorothy Esno and Thelma Fefolt.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 20, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery Mausoleum.
