Ethel M. Bell

Washington resident loved to be with family, play cards. Ethel M. Bell, 87, of Washington, died Monday, December 17, 2007, in Donnell House, Washington. She had been in declining health. She was born August 18, 1920, in Washington, a daughter of Howard and Marie Crile Sargent. Mrs. Bell worked at F.W. Woolworth's for 22 years. She was a member of First Christian Church since 1933, where she was a charter member of Two and Two Class and a 50-year member of Rebekah Lodge. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, at lodge activities and at church. Mrs. Bell loved to be with her family and play cards and board games. On July 25, 1941, she married Kent Robert Bell, who died June 8, 1992. Surviving are three sons, Lon Duane (Jeannie) Bell of Evansville, Ind., Alvin Robert Bell of West Mifflin and the Rev. Howard Kent Bell (Christopher) of Minneapolis, Minn.; three brothers, Vernon (Phillis) Sargent of Washington, Kenneth (Betty) Sargent of LaVelle, Fla., and Russell Sargent of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Ken Shoup of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren, Michael (Deanna) Bell, Jeffrey (Maureen) Bell, Tawni (Phillip) Nico, Heather Brooks, Aaron (Tammie) Bell, Mishelle (George) Zietelli, David Bell, Nathan (Kristina) Bell, Jonina (Brian) Krieg and Lorna (Jason) Williams; 18 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She will be sadly missed by many close, loving friends and greatly missed by all who knew her. Deceased are a grandson, Chris Robert Bell; a brother, Charles (Virginia) Sargent; brother-in-law, Harold Bell; and sisters-in-law Katherine Iams and Betty Shoup. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., the hour of service, Thursday, December 20, in First Christian Church, East Washington, with the Rev. David Felty officiating. Burial will follow in Ruff Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 615 East Beau Street, Washington, PA 15301.
