Personnel director for Molycorp
John Alvin Burson, 79, of Washington, died unexpectedly at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2003, in his home.
He was born August 27, 1923, in Washington, a son of Ray T. and Minta Eakin Burson.
Mr. Burson was a personnel director for Molycorp for more than 30 years.
He was a 1940 graduate of East Washington High School.
Mr. Burson served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a member of Unity Center of Pittsburgh and served on the board. He taught classes at the church and had a study group in Washington.
His wife, Audrea June Loucks Burson, died July 23, 2002.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan D. Burson of Decatur, Ga.; and two nephews and a niece.
Deceased is a brother, William Burson.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Unity Center of Pittsburgh, 875 Greentree Road, Pittsburgh, PA. Arrangements are being handled by William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., Washington.
