Frank J. Losko, 91, of Canonsburg, died Saturday, November 24, 2007, at Greenery Skilled Nursing of Canonsburg.
He was born January 8, 1916, in Westland, a son of Michael and Nellie Gazda Losko.
Mr. Losko entered the U.S. Army November 19, 1942, serving during World War II, in the Caribbean, and receiving the World War II Victory Medal, American Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was Honorably Discharged November 4, 1945.
A life-long mechanic, he operated Losko Transmission for fourteen years, and previously worked at Patsch Garage and Fulton Garage, and drove bus for Chartiers and Beth Center School Districts. He last worked as a Road Supervisor for Deemston Borough.
Mr. Losko was co-founder of South Strabane Volunteer Fire Department #2, where he had also served as president.
He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign War #19, Canonsburg.
On May 29, 1947, he married Jane Parker Losko, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, George F. Losko, of Durham, NC.; two sisters, Antoinette Phillips and Lila Christy, both of Canonsburg; a granddaughter, Melissa Losko; and a great grandson, Elijah “Jake” Losko; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Deceased are a daughter, Leonora Losko; a brother, John Losko; two sisters, Helen Popeck and Sophie Miesiac.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6-9, Monday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2007, with Dr. Charles Perrine officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion.
