James D. Moffat III, 88, of Omaha, Neb., died March 11, 2002, in Indianapolis, Ind.
He was born November 29, 1913, in Indianapolis, a son of James D. Moffat Jr.
Mr. Moffat's family lived with his aunts, Hattie and Blanch Moffat, at 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, from 1920 to 1929, and he stayed with them again attending to Washington & Jefferson College.
After graduating from Washington & Jefferson in 1936, he was employed by Trans World Airlines from 1940 to 1970, when he retired to become manager of Employees Credit Union of National Airlines in Miami, Fla. In 1978, he again retired and moved to Bella Vista, Ark., where he was active in Bella Vista Property Owners Association, Crime Watch and Bella Vista Arts and Crafts Association.
Mr. Moffat's grandfather, James D. Moffat, was president of Washington & Jefferson from 1882 to 1915.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Star of Kansas City, Mo., and Linda Antonelli of Omaha; three sisters, Clara Moffat of Sun City, Fla., Mary Finkbeiner of Gambier, Ohio, and Jane Pallme of Corpus Christi, Texas; a brother, Charles Moffat of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; and eight grandchildren, Jeanette Curtis, Louis James, Rebecca, Christopher and Dominic Antonelli, Victoria Moffat, James D. Moffat V and Micayla Moffat.
Deceased are his wife of 54 years, Vivian Hands Moffat, who died November 30, 1999; and his son, James D. Moffat IV, who died February 26, 2000.
MOFFAT - Memorial services for James D. Moffat III of Omaha, Neb., who died March 11, 2002, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 25, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street (the former Moffat home), Washington, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating.
