Leonard L. Plance, 92, of Washington, formerly of McDonald, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, in Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg.
He was born March 14, 1916, in Burgettstown, a son of Newton and Nettie Allison Plance.
Mr. Plance was a farmer for Mayview State Hospital and enjoyed building grandfather clocks and playing bingo.
He was a member of Venice United Presbyterian Church.
On March 28, 1940, he married Sara Frances Kelso, who died January 28, 2007.
Surviving are a daughter, Sara Herriott (David) of McDonald; two sons, George E. (Patty) Plance of Richmond, Va., and Leroy (Ida Jane) Plance of Wellsboro; two brothers, Edward Plance of Washington and Edgar Plance of the state of California; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Bessie Virginia Riggs; three sisters, Mae Kelso, Dorothy Hobbs and Willa Jean Widget; and a great-granddaughter, Emily Kathleen McQuillan.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, with the Rev. Craig Kephart officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory. Memorial contributions may be made to Venice Church, 3694 Millers Run Road, McDonald, PA 15057.
