GG&C taxi driver
Charles E. Provance, 69, of Washington, died at 5:51 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2002, in Washington Hospital, following an 11-year illness.
He was born February 6, 1933, in Washington, a son of Claude and Jeanette McClay Provance.
Mr. Provance worked as a driver for Suwak Trucking for more than 38 years and last worked for GG&C Taxi Service in Washington.
He was a member of Covenant Life Fellowship in Washington, Teamsters Union and Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 in Washington.
Mr. Provance was a Trinity High School graduate and a Korean War veteran.
On October 9, 1957, he married Martha (Jeannie) Glendenning, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Darrell E. and Erik C. Provance, both of Washington; a daughter, Dawn Ann Wright of Waynesfield, Mo.; a half brother, Robert McClay of Bentleyville; nine grandchildren, Justin Edward and Chasity Rae Provance, Erica D. and Joshua J. Wright, Joelle and Jalea Ann Provance, Alycia Marie and Jessica Lynn Mitchell and Amber Nicole Provance; and a great-grandchild.
Deceased is a sister, Patricia Maze.
PROVANCE - Friends of Charles E. Provance of Washington, who died Monday, May 6, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 10, with the Rev. Craig Belis officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Full military rites will be accorded at graveside by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 of Washington.
